TONYA BAKER
Tonya stands out as a highly respected vocalist and dynamic performer who shares a faith-filled message through her artistry on stages nationwide. Guided by her own independent production company, she has independently launched several impactful musical projects, including “Life In Him” and “Since He Came In.” Her third offering, “The Live Encounter”—produced by Grammy® Award-winning Myron Butler and distributed by Universal© Music Group—further showcased her creative range. More recently, her holiday release, “Merry Christmas Baby II,” produced by Demetrius "D. Bizzy" Smith, offered a soulful blend of seasonal favorites and original compositions.
Beyond her career as a performing artist, Tonya has dedicated herself to mentoring and uplifting emerging talent. Drawing from her extensive experience, she has led numerous workshops, conferences, and forums designed to nurture vocalists and worship leaders across the country. As a published author, her work “Worship Beyond the Song – A Psalmist’s Perspective”, presents valuable insights into faith-centered artistry. She has also contributed as a songwriter for respected artists such as B.Slade (formerly Tonex), Helen Baylor, Sherri Moffett-Jones, and Kim Burrell, while adding her vocal support to recordings by Byron Cage, Percy Bady, and Lisa McClendon, among many others.
Her talent has brought her to share the stage with legends including Shirley Caesar, CeCe Winans, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Mary Mary, and Tye Tribbett. Tonya’s acclaim extends beyond U.S. borders, highlighted by multiple international tours, including two expansive 15-city engagements in France, and performances at music festivals in Guadeloupe.
Tonya’s voice has been featured on celebrated projects, most notably “Great Is the Lord,” a track from the Grammy®-nominated album “Make Room” by Jonathan McReynolds. Additional appearances on projects by Phil Tarver, The Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, Joe Pace, and Oscar Williams have further underscored her versatility and depth.
She has made her mark on television as well, appearing on Bobby Jones Gospel (BET), The Gospel SuperFest, The Dorinda Show, and Praise the Lord (TBN). Currently serving as the Worship Volunteer Director at The Potter’s House of Dallas, Tonya remains deeply committed to fostering genuine expressions of worship. Her life’s work continues to reflect an unwavering trust in divine purpose and stands as an ongoing encouragement for others to embrace their calling with confidence and faith.
